Hypocrites!!

Yesterday the Onondaga Nation a leading member of the once mighty Iroquios Confederacy filed a massive Land Claim against the State of New York and it's local governmental bodies. They did so saying that they did not wish to evict anyone nor seek monetary rewards, but primarily to force the State etc to bargain with them and cleanup the environmental damage inflicted by the "evil white man" - my words - on their ancestral homeland.

Yeah Right!...it is about power, control and indeed money... based on a technicality in treaties signed long ago by their ancestors.

I say they are hypocrites because while on one face they proclaim themselves the pious, protectors of the environment on the other hand they make money hand over fist as on a daily basis as cars and trucks stream off Route 81 and down Route 11 to their Smoke Shop. There these same pious protectors of the environment sell to those whose ancestors robbed them of their land various tobacco products which not only pollutes the very same environment (cigarette butts, smoke etc) they claim to cherish, but also causes immense burdens on our health system. For Gods sake these people are selling a known drug and carcinogen with impunity and though legal who knows how much death and suffering they have caused as a result.

Righteous indeed, pious protectors of the environment, please the Onondagas an Indian Nation seek only to line their pockets, the pockets of hypocrites.

Why is feeling good and looking good so much work?

Sigh...today I start my new vitamin/supplement routine. I've decided that just taking a multi just isn't cutting it so now I shall endeavor to consume the following on a daily basis:

1 Lipitor (Would like to get off this...at least it is the lowest dose 10 mg)
1 Multi-Vitamin & Mineral w/ Beta Carotene
2 Folic Acid (400 mcg each)
1 Flaxseed Oil (1000 mg)
1 B-Complex with C
1 Fish Oil - Omega 3 Fatty Acids (1000 mg)
1 Coenzyme Q10 (75 mg)

Most are centered around controlling my cholestrol, benefiting my circulatory system & heart and of course stress (Vitamin B-Complex). The Folic Acid was the Doctor's advice when I started taking Lipitor, the rest is my own from reading and trying to figure out what I should or shouldn't take. Yesterday I created a chart listing the ingrediants of each of the pills I was about to take and what a surprise it was to find that the multi-vitamin I was/am taking didn't provide at least 100% of the daily recommend dose for some vitamins. Granted others in the vast list were more than 100% but several - Vitamin K (35%), Calcium (4%), Biotin (10%), Iron (50%), Phosphorus (3%), Magnesium (25%), Mangenese (42%) and Chromium (22%). Of course I have next to no clue as to what all of these things are for or more precise their benefit, but wouldn't you think that a multi-vitamin would have at least 100% or the daily recommended dose?

Of course they probably figure that a normal person will achieve the normal dose via the course of their day and what they consume. Then of course there is the fiber...must get 25 grams of fiber each day. Not an easy thing to do sometimes, but we try.

I've also decided to FAST one day a week. We'll see how that goes...LOL

I am suppose to be walking as well - 5 miles day. But that hasn't happened. For a week I walked about 2.5 miles each day and then the weather turned cold and snowy and my body began to protest the demands I was placing on it, so we sort of went into hibernation as far as walking is concerned. It is too damn cold! Right now it is 17 degrees. Plus the walking I did do I think may have pulled a muscle or aggravated an already existing condition...leaving me with a nagging dull ache, which is getting annoying. Since I suspect it might be a hernia, I hesitate to go to the Doctor's, but will wait and see if rest and relaxation and possibly low impact exercise will resolve the issue. If it doesn't then I guess we will be going to the Doctor, which brings up other issues as how does one pay for it.

My insurance which I currently have is good until April 30th, actually it is good until March 31st at the moment, I'll get a monthly bill for April later on this month and if I pay it then I will have coverage until April 30th. The search for Health Insurance isn't going very well, especially when I find that some programs administered by the State, aren't accepted at various Hospitals and Offices around here...so I'm looking for an independant policy, one that will cover Hospital stays etc, but probably not Doctor's visits, or Prescriptions.

Sometimes I wonder is it worth it all?

In like a Lion & out like a Lamb?

There is an old saying that if March comes "In like a Lion, it'll go out like a Lamb". Well I certainly hope so. I had thought that winter was getting behind us, but No, that couldn't be the case as today's weather indicates...snow...snow...snow and now more snow perdicted for later in the week (Lake Effect)...ahhhh the joys of living in Central New York.

I need to get busy on a number of issues and a number of fronts. So many tasks to do, that I tend to procrastinate writing lists of things to do and then revising them, so that in the end nothing gets done. High on that list now is finding affordable Health Insurance - How's that for a paradox? "Affordable Health Insurance"...the COBRA Coverage will run out come April 30th, so I have two months to find something or go without. Last year I spent about $4100 on Health/Dental Insurance, who knows what an individual policy will cost me. And being 50, soon to be 51, it is a long time till I'm 65 and eligible for Medicare...if it is even there when I get there.

Then there is the Doctor and his efforts to get me to lose weight and so forth...unfortunately at my last visit (early Feb) everything went up...blood sugar, cholestrol, blood pressure...and so on...not the direction one wants to be headed in, especially if one is without Health Insurance. I need to get off my butt and increase my activity levels...then maybe I'd lose weight or something. He (the Dr.) wants me to walk 5 miles a day, every day, unless there is a thunderstorm...ever try walking through snow clogged streets and unshoveled sidewalks? Beside I need to show some progress since I see him again in May.

Ahhh to be young, a kid again "If I knew then what I know now" so many, many things would be different I'm sure. So if that is the case why not just make the changes now? Because back then we were carefree, now we have responsibilities to ourself and others...I need to rebel....throw offf the yoke of RESPONSIBILITY and become carefree and reckless, with out regard to how things look or the impact they'd have on others sighhhh. Hmmmm...maybe I'm in the midst of a mid-life crisis. Of course if I were I wouldn't think I was nor think I might be so then I guess I'm not and I'm just plain old me...boring me...

I think I'll go back to me lists now...
