Snow - Winter's Blast fizzles & the New Year
I can always tell when it snows...my bedroom is so much brighter. In the spring, summer and fall it is naturally darker as the leaves on the trees tend to block the street lights behind me, though they do nothing to block the car lights. Which oddly tend to wake me up when they shine through the curtains and against the opposite wall. Strange isn’t it, you can be sound asleep and then a shining light reflecting off a far wall can wake you...
Anyway in winter things are brighter naturally due to the loss of the leaves, but when it snows it gets even brighter and it snowed last night. They were predicting anywhere from 8 to 14 inches of Lake Effect snow, but THANKFULLY it would appear that the bands went elsewhere during the night. From what I can see the roads are wet – salted/sanded and there is only about two inches on snow to be shoveled. Of course it is still snowing and checking the local news stations Doppler radar there looks to be several small bands of snow streaming off of Lake Ontario towards us, so we could get more this morning before it all fades away.
Yesterday I accomplished one of my goals one of my unpublished New Year’s Resolutions. After 14 months I wrote in the Round Robin and sent it on it’s way. Now some of you may not know what a Round Robin is and I shall explain. It is a Letter, a Family Letter that has traveled the length of this country many, many times. My Grandfather started it, going from each brother and sister to the next until it got back to you and then started over again. There once were two, one for the Grandfather’s brothers and sisters and then as his children grew, there was one created for them as well. That is the one I speak of now. Each member of the family writes a letter, adds it to the rest and mails it to the next family member on the list. When it gets back to you, you remove your old letter, replace it with a new one and send it on again. The whole process repeats itself over and over and over, unless some one holds it up as I did this last time.
I received it from my father in November 2005, but then with his health problems and eventual death in August more important things intruded as well as other issues that rose up in 2006. Suffice it to say that I now consider 2006 to be “The Lost Year”, when most if not all of my goals and dreams with either crushed or forgotten due to various crises throughout the year.
NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS (in no particular order):
-> Write long delayed Letter – Round Robin - DONE!
-> Write long delayed Letter – Philip in New Zealand
-> Write/Post to the story in the Tomb of the Last Heroes
-> Organize, update, print Family Genealogy – strive for June 2007 due to Reunion in July 2007.
-> Write and Finalize Living Will/Trust as well as Health Care Proxy form. Distribute Health Care proxy to appropriate people.
-> Replace Cellar windows with Glass Block Windows
-> Lose Weight and Exercise – doesn’t everyone include this in their list of resolutions?
-> Search my Soul & discover the real me and where I want to be vs. where I am now.
To be added to, modified and deleted as the Year progresses *smile*

Good news! I slept through the night. I don’t think I woke up once before 7:21AM when I rolled over and looked at the clock.
